Changes for 2010 at the Cornbury Festival

CHANGES FOR CORNBURY 2010

If you’re regular Cornbury goers, we reckon you’ll be quite set in your Cornbury ways… so please read the information below about changes to this year’s festival!!

PICNICS/ALCOHOL IN THE ARENA
Cornbury has always had a policy which states no picnics/alcohol etc in the main arena - but we’ve been pretty relaxed about it in the past and each year we see people sailing through the gates with their cooler boxes and picnics to feed the five thousand! Sorry folks, but this year we are really clamping down - absolutely NO picnics or alcohol to be brought into the arena. In fact, only 500ml plastic bottles containing water or soft drinks will be allowed in.

Our stewards and security have been instructed to stop anything resembling a cooler box, picnic basket, even bag of food/drink into the arena - PLEASE do not attempt to get into the arena with these things. You will be asked to dispose of your picnics at the gate, or return them to your car - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

There will be a fantastic range of food and drinks on offer in the arena so you won’t go hungry or thirsty! We’re not totally insensitive - baby food will be allowed into the arena, just please make sure it is in plastic containers.

FURNITURE/TENTS ETC IN THE ARENA
As with the no picnics/alcohol policy, Cornbury has always said no furniture (except small collapsible chairs) to be brought into the arena - however, being as forgiving and lovely as we are, we have turned a blind eye as people lug the contents of their living room into the arena. Much as we all love to have our home comforts around us, we’re sorry but the Cornbury arena isn’t the place to have them!!

Most importantly, it is a HUGE risk to yours and other festival goers’ safety - in an emergency we would need to evacuate the arena as quickly and safely as possible. Clambering over tents, chairs, wind breaks etc would hinder a fast exit and thus put lives at risk. Please do NOT attempt to enter the arena with anything except small collapsible chairs.

Cornbury is festival not a seated concert - please don’t stop other people’s enjoyment of the festival by setting up camp in the arena. It makes it difficult for people to move around the site, and stops people from getting closer to the action! If you insist on bringing a small collapsible chair into the arena, please be considerate to others and sit to the side of the stage and away from the main crowds.

Our stewards will stop you at the gate - save yourself the bother of carrying your furniture back to the car and leave it at home!!

CAMPING TICKETS
In 2010, we are going back to the old system of combining camping with the weekend ticket and will not be selling stand alone camping tickets in advance of the festival. Should you wish to attend the festival for one day only and camp, you can buy your festival ticket in advance and then buy a camping ticket from the box office (subject to availability) when it opens on site on 2nd July. You will need to present your festival ticket at the box office when you buy your camping ticket.

Put simply, it has come to our attention that in previous years some naughty people have bought camping tickets without buying a festival ticket, and have spent most of their time skipping merrily round the campsite being troublesome. So we’re not being difficult, we’re just trying to make your experience of the festival more comfortable, safe, and generally more enjoyable!

KIDS, KIDS, KIDS!
We are over the moon to say that this year, all children aged 12 and Under can come to Cornbury absolutely FREE! Cornbury has always been rated as one of the most child friendly and safest festivals out there, and we know that your children will have a great time. There are always stewards and security personnel all over the site should you lose your child and we will always do our very best to help out. However - please remember, that your children are YOUR responsibility! Please don’t let your children wander off totally out of your sight.

Whilst we appreciate that chidlren aged between 13 and 16 may seem like they are old enough to do their own thing, and certainly don’t want mum or dad ruining their ‘Cornbury Cred’, they MUST be accompanied by an adult (aged over 18) to the festival. Unfortunately it is impossible for us to stop children aged 16 and under from buying their own tickets, and although we all know it’s virtually impossible stopping children doing what they want to do sometimes, they are still YOUR responsibility - please do NOT let your children attend Cornbury alone. We are not responsible for their safety if they are without an adult.

Please remember, even though children aged 12 and Under come to the festival free, they still need a ticket - don’t forget the little darlings when booking your tickets!

DISABLED FESTIVALGOERS
In 2009 we introduced a free ticket for those of you who are in receipt of the higher rate Disabled Living Allowance. We are continuing with this in 2010 - however, in order to get these tickets, you will need to download the application form from the website and send it to us at the Cornbury Festival office (address on the form), along with photocopied proof that you are in receipt of the DLA. Any other friends and family or carers attending the festival with you should purchase their tickets as usual from the website or over the phone.

Once we have received your application form and are sure that you are eligible for the free ticket, we will send you your ticket in the post, along with a parking permit for the disabled entrance and car park. This way we can ensure that you get proper access to disabled facilities.
