Evenlode. Take the stunning fiddle
and guitar duo Jane Griffiths and Colin Fletcher, and combine with local
sax/flute and accordion duo Jo Hamilton and Rupert Alison (Huffenpuff) and
you have Oxfordshire-based Evenlode. |
 |
Rouge-Morte is an experimental rock quartet that formed
in Oxford, in the Summer of 2005 that inverts the mostly-loud-sometimes-quiet
approach of their metal alter-ego to produce soporific, plangent and Lynchian
compositions. |
 |
Chantelle Pike is a young singer/songwriter currently
living in Oxford, where her pure, gutsy and distinctive voice is well known
on the local scene, as is her mop of red hair. Refreshingly eluding categorisation,
Pikes style is at once warm and edgy. Come and see for yourself. |
 |
Zooeira are Mariana Magnavita, (Vocals) Nick Stokes (Guitar) and
Shannon Harris (Keyboards) and, featuring percussion maestros Oli Savill
and Adriano Pinto and Bassist Jerry Soffe bringing the sounds of Brazil
to Cornbury Festival |
 |
Pourforth are a locally based sextet mixing comtemporary covers
and original songs, which has established them as a popular act on the
local live circuit. This is their first full band festival appearance,
but it will undoubtedly not be thier last! |
 |
Slainte means "cheers" - an appropriate name for this
successful six piece band specialising in Celtic music. They have built
up a strong following among fans in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland
, America and Italy. They feature an extraordinary variety of instruments. |
 |
Alex Chapman normally plays solo, but when he was offered a spot at the Cornbury Music Festival on the condition that he had a band behind him, he stole one! Dane Prewett (bass guitar) and Jeremy Marks (drums) are usually to be found backing Alex's (ex-) mate and fellow Nottingham muso, Joe Strange. |
 |
Junkie Brush is an unruly bunch, often described as punk but they
like to think they're not really. Spiteful, fast, aggressive and nasty,
yes. Punk... maybe not. Someone called them "secret prog-rockers"
once. Only once though! |

In July 2005, Good Dog celebrated the release of their
first full length album and second studio recording with a small (but packed)
gig in the back room of the Bell in Charlbury! They played at Cornbury Festival
in 2005, winning the national School Bands competition, and are happy to
return this year for a longer set! |
 |
Souljacker are a hugely talented young band who generate an irrepressibly vibrant energy on-stage. Despite the oldest member being only 17, they have a mature and seductive sound which blends many influences, such as early 70's progressive rock, with a fresh and contemporary twist, to produce their own uniquely compelling music.
|
 |
Dave Oates, a familiar face to many, will be starting
the set with his unique brand of depressing songs!! However, it was suggested
that as the sun will be out, he should brighten things up a bit and will
therefore be joined by Dave Menday, organiser of the Finstock Acoustic
nights and renowned folk guitarist. |
 |
Hayley Gene is emerging as a vibrant songwriter and solo artist.
Her solo music journey has carried her from various stages and coffee
houses across Canada. Hayley Gene's performances blend a variety of musical
genres combining strong melody and harmony with her poetic lyrical style.
With a theatrical understanding of the stage, Hayley Gene creates a relaxed
and honest connection with her audience. |

Lindy Vopnfjord's latest album, "Suspension of Disbelief"
is a complete work - a rare thing in a world where a "good"
CD requires only three or four decent songs. Each track on the album was
as carefully worked as a chapter in a book, and all are as essential in
forming the whole. Perhaps the most defining quality in Lindy's music
is its beauty in simplicity. His genius lies in his telling the biggest
of truths in the simplest of ways. |
 |
The legendary Stannah and the Stairlifts have survived another
year with no deaths or major illnesses! The sharpest up-tempo blues rock
outfit in the area feature Pete Crowther (ex-Mr Big) on lead guitar and
pedal-pushers, Andy Hopkins on vocals, guitar, harp, and burgeoning combover,
Tim retired, now give me my discount Duquenoy on pulsating
bass with Paul how does it start? Haines on drums. |
 |
Alt Country outfit The Epstein have been playing the dives and
bars of London and Oxford for some time now. Their stage sound is always
changing as the band bring in and out a team of guest musicians, from
the mariachi trumpet section to the honky tonk piano and mandolin. |
